Bess is the Internet filter that is commonly used by school to protect the students, Why is this bad? Read on. since the start
of the website craze, all this dog wanted to do is take over the world. If you're still in school, like me, if you try to
go on a fairly decent good site, they're all deleted and destroyed. Bess usually says, "Bess Can't Go There!" Why's
that? It is because the people responsible for creating Bess were too hevy-handed with the filters. For example, AOL is not
allowed because it is AOL. understand? Neither do I. "bess is true evil and always will be true evil" says www.geocities.com/antibessx/
and i happen to agree with this statement.. There are some sites that are still safe from Bess's internet purge, but not all
of them. for a partial list, check out the block list from the menu. I know the feeling of doing your work, possibly for a
research paper, or the school newsletter and bess pope up. Imagine Researching an article on gun control, but you can't get
the Gun Enthusiasts side of it because bess will not allow it. Perhaps you are researching a project for health clss, in which
you need pictures of the human anatomy. Unfortunatly, according to bess this is Pornography. if you're sitting there in class
trying to download something and trying to overide Bess without success, I am with you, it's something I've been trying to
do since the dawn of Bess. It's horrible but it's the truth. You can visit the maddness for your self, www.bess.com, that
place i highly advise you not to go there because the only thing it's going to do is suck you up and not let you out! Don't
go there unless you have a extremely brave soul, AND if someone is next to you that won't let you get sucked in. I hope you
join my attempt to rid the net of bess and i hope you are aware of the danger of Bess and her wrong doings
Why Bess is Hated:
The whole filtering process is a mess. All servers that offer free sites are automatically blocked in their entirety. The
only way for people to see your sites is to request a page review for each and every page you want to go to. If you actually
take the time to submit a site review and wait the two or three weeks it takes them to hand-review it, you can finally go
on. Some sites they won't even unblock, due to "vulgar or obscene content". The interpretation of "vulgarity"
or "obscenity" is based entirely on the staff that is reviewing it.
If, anytime down the line, one of the clients of the Bess filtering service decides that your site is "vulgar",
or "obscene", or disrupting the educational process, they can send a request to Bess to block your site AGAIN. Most
of the Bess clients may not have a problem with your site, but if just one person decides that it's not what they want their
students to be seeing, it's gone again. Such topics as music, games, and entertainment are frequently blocked. Your site may
contain no swearing, no vulgarity, but if it deals with the topic of bands or music someone may have it blocked. Even teachers
themselves are unhappy with the service, claiming that some sites which are necessary for research on an entirely clean and
educational topic are blocked, because they are located on "free site servers". Unfortunately, it's up to the board
of education, not the teachers, to add or drop the filtering service. There is basically nothing the students or teachers
can do to solve these problems! Bess is hindering our education and our freedoms! Something must be done! That is why this
site was creaed. what follows this peice of text is how to turn bess off. these may not work for you, but if they work for
ONE person, it is worth it.
How to Bypass Bess. (2 Methods):
The Old school version...
The school uses Bess to 'supposedly' block inappropriate materials. What a joke. In internet explorer click on the Edit
section on the top of your screen and move your mouse down to Preferences and click. Once the Preferences screen pops up,
click the + sign on the Advanced section. Then once the Advanced area expands you will see a section that says proxies. Click
on it. Then there will be 3 bullets. Place the bullet in the one that says Manual Proxy Configuration. Then click the button
that says View. The Manual Proxy Configuration window will pop up. Copy the data in the 'http' text box and paste it in the
scoks text box. Change the last number of the data you pasted to a 3. Then delete everthing in the 'http' and Security text
boxes. Now trying going to a web site that was once blocked and poof! Bess is no longer monitoring or blocking what you do

To destroy bess you go on www.yahoo.com and type internet translater and then from there on you go on the desired internet
filter website then enter in your URL that you want to go on then click go and your website will be protected by a translator
and also if you wanted to you can put your site in any language or form! Enjoy!!
